How to Connect Your Website to a Domain Provider (Framer Edition)

So, you bought a shiny new domain (👏 go you!), and your Framer site is looking chef’s kiss… but now you're wondering: “How do I actually make this thing live on my domain?”

Don’t worry—I’ve got you. Connecting your domain to your Framer site sounds techy, but it’s honestly pretty painless once you know what you’re looking for.

Step 1: Buy Your Domain

If you haven’t already, you’ll need to purchase a domain name. You can do this through any domain provider—I personally love working with Namecheap, their support team is *amazing*.

Once it’s bought, you’ll keep it there—but we’ll point it to Framer so your website shows up when someone types in that URL.

Step 2: Publish Your Site in Framer

Make sure your site is published inside Framer before connecting the domain. Click “Publish” in the top right corner of your project and make sure everything looks good.

Step 3: Go to Your Site Settings in Framer

  1. Open your project in Framer.

  2. Click the “Settings” icon (⚙️) in the top left corner.

  3. Navigate to the Domains tab.

  4. Click “Add Custom Domain” and enter your domain name (e.g., yourdomain.com).

Framer will now ask you to purchase a plan, choose the one that best fits your needs, the most common on is the Basic plan which includes 2 CMS collections and up to 10000 pages, if you need more CMS collections you should go for the PRO plan, DM me to get a code that will give you 3 months for free.

Then it will show you something that looks a bit scary—but it’s just some DNS records you need to copy and paste into your domain provider. Nothing to freak out about, I promise.

Step 4: Update DNS Records in Your Domain Provider

Here’s the step where most people get stuck—but don’t! You’re just copying a few lines from Framer into your domain dashboard. You can definitely do it yourself, but it you find it a bit overwhelming you can just open a support chat with Namecheap's team (if you listened to me and got your domain there) and ask them to do it for you, just provide the records below and they'll handle it.

If you have a domain based email, i.e. patricia@holarara.com, MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT CHANGE THE MX RECORDS, they are "in charge" of your email if you change those you won´t be able to use your email.

If you're doing it yourself, here’s what you’re usually adding:

You’ll need to:

  • Add 2 A Records that point to Framer’s IP addresses

  • Add a CNAME Record for the www version of your domain

Name

Type

Value

@

A

31.43.160.6

@

31.43.161.6

CNAME

sites.framer.app

Each domain provider looks a little different, but they all have a DNS or DNS Management section. Go there, delete any default A/CNAME records, and paste the ones Framer gives you.

If you’re not sure where to find that in your provider feel free to DM me and I’ll help you troubleshoot.

Step 5: Verify + Wait

Once you’ve saved the DNS records, go back to Framer and click “Verify Connection.”
Sometimes it takes a few minutes (or even a couple hours) for the internet to catch up. So don’t panic if it doesn’t work right away—grab a coffee and check back in a bit. Technically it can be up to 48h… But it's never that long nowadays.

Once verified, your site is LIVE on your own domain. 🎉

Bonus Tip: Don’t Forget SSL

Framer automatically adds SSL (the little 🔒 lock icon in the browser), so your site is secure. No need for extra setup here—another reason why I love using it.

Final Thoughts

Connecting your domain to Framer isn’t as techy as it sounds—it’s just a copy-paste job. Once it’s done, your site is fully live and looking pro. 🙌

Still stuck or nervous about doing it wrong? Don’t worry—helping clients with this is part of what I do. Just send me a DM or email, and I’ll walk you through it.
